AC unit fit for MURBs

Johnson Controls’ York HMCG2 side-discharge air-conditioning (AC) unit is intended for multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) and other high-density environments that offer very little installation space.

The company says the compact HMCG2 has a 40% smaller footprint than standard heat-pump units and can reach efficiency levels rated up to 18.5 with the SEER2 energy efficiency standard. It is available in a range of 2- to 5-ton models.

A modulating compressor promises consistent comfort, while a streamlined fan design keeps sound as low as 56 dB, similar to a residential dishwasher.
