WSP grow Latin American presence with acquisition of Poch

Based in Chile, Poch has offices in Peru, Colombia and Mexico and a staff of 730.

Montreal-based WSP Global Inc. has made a significant move and expansion into Latin America through the acquisition of Poch, a 730-employee professional services firm based in Chile with offices in Peru, Colombia and Mexico.

Founded in 1989, Poch is a leading regional engineering and environmental consulting services company, along with project/construction management as well as supervision/control services for industrial, buildings, environment and energy clients in the Chilean market. It also strengthens WSP’s presence in Colombia, Peru and Mexico.

“The acquisition of Poch … is aligned with our 2015-2018 Strategic Plan and represents a significant milestone in our ambition to become a top-tier pure player in Latin America,” said Alexandre L’Heureux, president and CEO of WSP in a company release. “With 540 employees, the Chilean office is strategically located for our operations and positions us for continued growth in Chile. In addition, Poch’s recognized expertise in other countries complements and enhances our range of services in the region.”

In 2016 WSP  carried out eight different acquisitions adding that grew its presence in established regions of the world while also  expanding into three Latin American  countries (Chile, Peru and Mexico) through DITEC, a structural engineering firm in Mexico and Schlumberger’s industrial water consultancy business with operations in Chile, Peru, Colombia and Mexico as well as the U.S. and the UK.
