The Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute (HRAI) is so concerned about aspects of the recently issued CSA code for installing hydronic heating systems, it has written to the Canadian Standards Association requesting that the document be reviewed before it is referenced in the building codes.
HRAI reports that CSA B214-01, “Installation Code for Hydronic Heating Systems” has technical omissions and contradictions that may compromise the installation of safe systems. The institute has requested that a CSA technical committee be established to review the document and has forwarded a list of potential committee participants.
HRAI also reports that recently the National Building Code Standing Committee on Houses decided against recommending the inclusion of the B214 code in the next edition of Part 9 of the National Building Code.
