Englobe acquires DST Group

The combined environmental engineering operation will include 14 offices and 350 staff in Ontario and nearly 160 staff across six offices in Western Canada.
Englobe Corp. has acquired DST Group Inc., an employee-owned consulting engineering firm founded over 60 years ago with more than 165 employees and nine offices across Ontario and Western Canada. DST’s team includes a full complement of professional engineers, professional geoscientists, biologists, environmental scientists, geologists, and field and laboratory inspectors.

Englobe, an roll-up of environmental/engineering companies created by ONCAP (a mid-market private equity platform of ONEX) in 2006, is based in Quebec City with operations dating back some 50 years. The firm is among the largest soils, materials and environmental engineering organizations in Canada, operating a network of more than 55 offices and 30 laboratories across the country. By joining forces with DST, the combined operation will include 14 offices and 350 staff in Ontario and nearly 160 staff across six offices in Western Canada.
The DST acquisition closely follows Englobe’s purchase of Calgary-based geotechnical consulting engineering firm McIntosh Lalani Engineering Ltd., announced November 7.
Maurice Graveline, former CEO of DST, is now vice president operations Ontario at Englobe.
