Timescapes, which develops time-lapse and job-site analytics technology, has entered a strategic partnership with construction company EllisDon.

Under the agreement, EllisDon will roll out Timescapes’ purpose-built construction cameras, time-lapse visuals and artificial intelligence (AI) analytics for future projects. The firm has already used these products on several of its active sites, capturing and viewing high-resolution images in real time, so project teams can check a variety of analytics.

EllisDon’s data and digital engineering department has sought out such technology to address a variety of challenges, including rising material costs, labour shortages and tight timelines, by integrating visual records of construction progress into project management, for the purpose of improving existing processes. The technology has enabled quicker dispute resolution, data-driven decision making, fewer site walks and streamlined communications with consultants and contractors.

“Advanced analytics allow our teams to review construction progress remotely and make more informed decisions,” says Hammad Chaudhry, EllisDon’s vice-president (VP) of innovation and construction technology.

“The partnership will provide deeper insights into how companies can leverage visual data and analytics at the project and organization level,” says Timescapes founder and CEO Chester Boyles.
