CCI Group of Toronto is a consultant on the Aura at College Park in Toronto, which will be Canada’s tallest residential building at 78 storeys. CCI has done concrete and material testing, post tension monitoring, steel inspection, temporary structures and suspended platform review. The mixed-use tower with retail at the base and over 900 condo units, is due to be completed in 2014. It is being built by Canderel Stoneridge. The architect is Graziani + Corazza (G+C).

CCI group is also doing structural engineering for the Mosport International Speedway Event Centre, and has recently provided condition assessments of 372 parking lots for the city of Toronto. The last project included a database of the costs of repair and replacement over a 10-year time period.

DEC Engineering of Vancouver won an award of excellence in the 6th Canadian Geo-Exchange Coalition Excellence Awards in early May for its Westhills Project. Geo-Énergie of Boucherville, Quebec won an award for the Groupe STCH project, and Southern Comfort Mechanical of Niverville, Manitoba won for the Cornerstone Housing Corporation.

At Associated Engineering, Don Kennedy, P.Eng. has been appointed as national practice leader, transportation structures. John van der Eerden, P.Eng. has been appointed as national practice leader, water resources. Alfred Kao, is now manager of the bridge engineering group, and Jamie Fitzgerald is manager of the water resources group. All four individuals are based in the Burnaby, B.C. office.
