B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario announce new boards

During the past weeks, associations of consulting engineering companies in provinces across Canada have been making new appointments and announcements.

In Alberta the new president of Consulting Engineers of Alberta is Craig Clifton of Clifton Associates, Calgary. A member of the CEA board since 2009, Clifton was named president at the annual meeting in Edmonton held on May 23, taking over from Sheldon Hudson of Al-Terra Engineering, who is now past president.

Also, former provincial Premier Ed Stelmach has been made an honorary director of CEA. The association has had a long relationship with Mr. Stelmach ever since he was Minister of Infrastructure in 1992.

Vice president of the CEA board of directors is Matt Brassard, a principal with Urban Systems in Edmonton. Treasurer is Doug Olson of Associated Engineering in Calgary.

At the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-B.C. (ACEC-BC), the new chair of the board for 2013-14 is Cameron Gatey, principal of Urban Systems, Kamloops. He takes over from Steve Fleck of Stantec Consulting in Vancouver. Other members of the executive committee include vice-chair and treasurer Catherine Fritter of Moffatt & Nichol and designated director, Ken Wiecke of AMEC Americas. Several individuals joined the board: Adrian Corlett of Delcan, David Daw of Hatch; Mike Dickens of Kerr Wood Leidal; Shane Johnson of Klohn Crippen Berger; Carl Miller of Levelton Consultants and Asifa Samji of Stantec.

At Consulting Engineers of Saskatchewan, Jason Gasmo assumed the chair at the annual meeting on June 17. He is joined by Stormy Holmes as vice chair, and Tara Reichert as secretary treasurer.

Consulting Engineers of Ontario elected its board on June 14, making Bob Kivi of MMM Group chair of the board. Past chair is Michael Snow of Golder Associates, and chair elect is Nick Palomba of Delcan. Bruce Potter of B.M. Ross and Associates is treasurer. Newly elected directors are Mike Delsey of AECOM, Mike Tulloch of Tulloch Engineering and Nadine Miller of SNC-Lavalin. Returning directors are John Krug of Stantec, Mike Stocks of AMEC, Peter Mallory of CH2M Hill Canada, Fouad Mustafa of IBI Broup and Martin Tourangeau of Hatch Mott MacDonald.
