A new book by WIT Press is “Dynamics in the Practice of Structural Design.” It is intended for engineers who use computer software to tackle situations involving dynamic loads.
The Canadian Sheet Steel Building Institute has released new editions of two manuals, the 2nd edition of “Lightweight Steel Framing Design Manual,” and the 3rd edition of “Design of Steel Deck Diaphragms.” The manuals are updated to meet the 2005 National Building Code of Canada and CSA-S136-01 Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members.
The American Society of Heating Ventilating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has released, “HVAC Simplified” as an introduction for designers of small to medium-sized buildings.
University of Waterloo engineering professor and historian Norman R. Ball is the author of “The Canadian Niagara Power Company Story.” The beautifully presented hard-cover volume documents the history of the impact of electricity and technological change in the Niagara Region during the tumultous 20th century.
