The Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA) has published a study that analyzed the impact of repair/rewinding on the energy efficiency of the motors. The report includes a Good Practice Guide on methods of repair and rewinding, and it will help in making decisions about whether to repair or replace a motor.
Typically over 97% of the lifetime cost of an electric motor results from the electricity it uses to operate. Small changes in the motor’s efficiency can have a large effect on operating costs.
