ROM DIAGRID -- The inclined intersecting walls of the Diagrid not only carry vertical loads but also act as the lateral stability system, resisting horizontal drift due to vertical loads and external seismic and wind loads. Floors perform as horizontal rigid diaphragms resisting out-of-plane Diagrid forces and transferring them to adjacent walls as in plane forces. At basement level the walls also transfer out-of-balance loads due to the retained ground through the foundations to the soil. All of the lateral loads will be transferred through the frame to the foundations. The caissons and basement structure will transfer these loads to the ground.
