New products from Grinnell include the Figure 700G Grooved End Silent Check Valve (illustrated). It is engineered for silent operation with low head loss and is good for HVAC systems in hospitals and other sensitive environments. The Grooved-End Y Strainer from Mueller gives economic protection for pumps, meters, valves, compressors, traps and similar equipment used in water, oil and gas piping.

Electronic Controls Monitoring System (ECMS) of Sudbury, Ontario has a new range of laser instruments for level, distance and positioning applications. The Lasermeter line includes the Owl, a non-contact distance measuring instrument for level sensing and positioning in process control applications. There is also a portable Easyranger surveying instrument and a Laserbeam Torch for projecting straight lines.

A major release of CADKEY 98 has new functions and improvements. The mechanical PC-CAD software by Baystate Technologies integrates FastSOLID advanced solid modelling which was previously sold separately for $995. Other enhancements include ACIS 4.2 integration, multiple document interface, photorealistic rendering and enhanced speed and stamina. CADKEY 98 will be available for Windows 95/98/NT 4.x. Priced at U.S. $1,995.

Autodesk is releasing its next generation design software: AutoCAD 2000. Innovations in the PC design software are meant to improve users’ ability to access design data, collaborate with colleagues and connect to the outside world. It has 400 enhancements, such as a multiple design environment, object property manager autosnaps and autotracking. In the next few months the company will release versions for the civil/survey/ land, mapping, mechanical and architectural fields.
