Bentley Systems has released its Water V8 XM Edition, a comprehensive design software for water distribution systems. The V8 XM edition uses geospatial XML feature modelling (XFM). It integrates with Haestad Methods hydraulic modeling and analysis software, with Bentley Geospatial Server, and other programs. www.bentley.com

Autodesk is producing the 2009 version of its Building Information Modelling (BIM) software. The series includes Revit Structure 2009, Revit MEP 2009, AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009 and AutoNavisWorks 2009 for project management. Watch for the June-July issue of for a review. www.autodesk.ca

Acrobat 9 by Adobe Systems gives real-time capabilities for co-navigating a PDF document with colleagues. Adobe has also introduced Acrobat.com, a suite of hosted services where the tools are put right within a web browser. Sign-up is free. WATER TREATMENT

Koch Membrane Systems (KMS) makes the MegaMagnum reverse osmosis and nanofiltration water treatment systems. The pre-engineered systems use 18″ diameter spiral round reverse osmosis membrane elements — the world’s largest — in order to reduce the cost and footprint of municipal and industrial treatment systems. www.kochmembrane.com

ATS Adsorbent Media in powder and granules from BASF remove lead and other contaminants from drinking water to non-detectable levels. The product is listed under NSF Standard 61. Also, BASF’s Activated Alumina removes flouride to less than the EPA limit. www.basf.com

PUMPS

KSB has a new generation of direct-drive submersible mixers. Amamix propeller hydraulics are efficient and run well when handling high viscosity media. The main application is for municipal and industrial water treatment plants and biogas installations. Power ratings are from 1.25 t o 10 kW. www.ksb.ca
