FIRE PROTECTION

The UniNet 2000 by Notifier integrates fire, security, access control and CCTV on a single network. UL-listed for the first three functions, the system uses client-server technology that allows upgrades. It has a customized graphic platform.

Bilco Company’s domed automatic fire vent provides natural daylight, energy efficiency and fire protection. The Lumivent uses Lexan Thermoclear glazing, an innovative polycarbonate material by General Electric.

Viking makes the Sure-Fire non-cycling, preaction sprinkler system. It can operate as a regular preaction system under normal conditions or as a dry system if primary and back-up power fail. The company also has a complete new line of residential sprinklers to comply with new UL 1626 Standards for minimum .05 density design. Only the flows have changed.

ELECTRICAL

StayPut Sales has introduced a clip-on version of the Franks Stay-Put Electrical Conduit System. It replaces wire and tape and holds conduits such as aluminum, galvanized, PVC or flexible PVC during soil back filling, compacting and concrete pouring.

HYDRONICS

An innovative hydronic snow and ice melting system (SIM) by Rehau with Klimatrol Environmental Systems is being used at the new Niagara Falls Casino Gateway project in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The 125,000-s.f. system is to be installed in parking lots and walkways to melt snow and ice formed from the Horseshoe Falls. It will include rugged Raupex 02 Barrier pipe and Everloc fittings.
