ENVIRONMENT

T-Tex is a new filtering and absorbing lightweight fibre media by UltraTech that allows water to pass while absorbing liquid hydrocarbons. Produced from recycled synthetic fibres, it is also used in X-Tex Rolled Fabric, a geo-textile and filter media.

INDUSTRIAL

Grundfos’s Digital Dosing Metering pump gives fine precision for water treatment chemical and chemical system processes. Covers metering needs from 2.5 ml/h to 481/h.

V.J. Pamensky Canada celebrated its 25th anniversary in October in new 62,000-s.f. premises in west end Toronto. STRUCTURES

Cintec Anchor Systems market a blast protection system for existing masonry structures to retrofit them to better withstand gas explosions, bomb blasts etc. The system can reinforce a variety of masonry walls in either solid or windowed panels, and uses dry diamond drilling. It has been used on the Canadian Parliament Buildings as well as Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle in the U.K.

FIRE PROTECTION

Honeywell’s Notifier division has introduced the NOTI-FIRE-NET Web Server that gives remote access to the NOTI-FIRE-NET network of fire alarm control panels. Via the internet or an intranet, operators can connect to a network of Notifier fire alarm panels or a single fire alarm control panel. The UniNet 2000 network integrates diverse fire and security systems into a single graphics platform.

Ansul has introduced a line of dual foam-water monitors and nozzles called the High Flow Series that achieves flow rates from 3,000 to 18,927 litres per minute. Components are stainless steel and copper alloy.

SOFTWARE

Autodesk is working with 11 B.C. municipalities to implement its Internet/Intranet mapping technology. Using geographic information systems (GIS), Autodesk MapGuide allows access to up-to-date geographic data such as city maps and land zoning information via a centralized internet/intranet portal.
