Canadian Consulting Engineer

Golder At Fifty

Golder Associates provided geotechnical services for the 13-kilometre long Confederation Bridge across the Northumberland Strait to P.E.I., completed in 1997. The geotechnical challenges of this major Canadian engineering feat were dealing with soft foundation sediment, deep piers and lateral pressures due to wind-blown ice at the water surface. Golder won an Award of Merit in the 1999 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards for their part in the project.
