Confederation Bridge linking Prince Edward Island with Mainland Canada was named one of the Top 10 infrastructure projects of the last 75 years in North America by the International Right of Way Association. Selected from 130 entries, the Canadian bridge was ranked alongside the Hoover Dam and Golden Gate Bridge.
At 13 kilometres, the P. E. I.-to-New Brunswick crossing is the world’s longest bridge over ice-covered waters. It was completed in 1997, with Stantec in joint venture providing civil and structural engineering services.
