Canadian consulting engineering firms carved out a record 9.1% share of the international market in 2002. International billings reported by Canadian firms reached more than US $1.7 billion, and that places Canada as the third largest exporter of consulting engineering services after the United States and Britain.
The ranking is based on information from the world’s 200 top international design firms compiled by Engineering News Record (ENR) and published in its July 28, 2003 edition. The last time Canadian engineering companies were ranked third in generating international revenues was in 1998 when they earned 7.7% of the international market with US $1.3 billion in reported international revenue.
