TTC Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension

June 13, 2017

This project won the  PEO York Chapter 2016 Engineering Project of the Year award (Large Organization) . The presenters did an excellent job showcasing the project and it’s felt that our members would be interested in this important project as well.

tunnelSubways are one of the most complex infrastructure systems built today.  They require the integration of many component systems to ensure safe and reliable operations for the many thousands of people who use them each day.  The Toronto Transit Commission is in the final phase of completing the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE), an 8.6 kilometre extension of TTC’s Line 1, with six new stations starting at the new Downsview Park station, ending at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre station in York Region.

TTC’s project management team will speak about the unique challenges posed in the design and building of each of the six new subway stations, the new subway tunnels and installing and testing and commissioning of this new subway extension.
