The GridSmart City Cooperative (GSCC) is a collaborative effort involving 14 Ontario LDCs, collectively managing more than $2.7 billion dollars in assets, serving 740,000 across 30 communities. The Consortium also involves more than a dozen Commercial Partners along with several Academic and Industry Stakeholder Partners.

You will hear about: how harmonizing standards and specifications has led to millions of dollars in costs savings; how a custom designed leadership program was developed with and Academic Partner to provide tailored professional training for utility front line leaders; how a GSCC “Digital Utility Platform Hub” is being developed to democratize data across LDCs and allow for real time engineering analysis and operational decision making; and about the ICE Harvest research collaboration with McMaster University to commercialize an electric and thermal micro grid technological solution which significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
Mark Henderson is the President of GridSmart City Cooperative and the GridSmart City Consortium. Prior to joining GridSmart City, Mr. Henderson’s distinguished career includes, among other positions: Senior Vice President, Alectra Energy Solutions; Executive Vice President, Asset Management and Chief Operating Officer, PowerStream Inc.; and, President and CEO, Barrie Hydro Holdings, and its subsidiaries, Barrie Hydro Distribution Inc. and Barrie Hydro Energy Services Inc.
