Engineers part of Ontario Wood Design Awards

The 2015 Ontario Wood WORKS!” design awards were handed out in Toronto on November 12. Structural engineers were named as co-winners in seven of the building categories, as follows:
– St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market building, by Architecture Incorporated and engineers Blackwell (Ontario Wood Award);
– Bill Fisch Forest Stewardship and Education Centre, Stouffville by Dialog as architects and engineers (environment);
– Windows on the Green Condominium, Mississauga, by SMV Architects, Romanov and Romanov, and engineers Read Jones Christoffersen (residential);
– Toronto Public Library, Scarborough Civic Centre Branch, by LGA Architectural Partners and Philip H. Carter Architects, and engineers Blackwell (institutional-commercial, less than $10 million);
– Gore Meadows Community Centre and Library, Phase 1, Brampton, by ZAS Architects and engineers Halcrow Yolles (institutional-commercial, more than $10 million);
– École Ste. Marguerite Bourgeoys, Kindergarten Addition, Kenora, by Nelson Architecture, and engineers Lavergne Draward and Associates (northern Ontario excellence);
– Isabel Bader Centre for Performing Arts, Kingston, by N45 Architecture, and engineers Halsall (jury’s choice).
Moses Structural Engineers of Toronto won the Engineer Wood Advocate Award.
