The Greater Toronto Area’s new transportation agency Metrolinx announced dramatic and vast plans for expanding the region’s public transportation system in September, in a program called “The Big Move.” Key projects include the first subway extensions outside Toronto, connecting to Richmond Hill via York University, and a new rapid transit line along Eglinton Avenue that would create a continuous link from Scarborough Town Centre to Pearson Airport. The plan also calls for rapid transit connections in Port Credit, Mississauga, Brampton, York Region Durham region, Halton and Peel, and Hamilton.
