Jim Stronach, P.Eng. of Hay and Company Consultants in Vancouver, was awarded the 2005 Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Prize in Applied Oceanography in Toronto in May. Hay and Company is a division of EBA Engineering Consultants.<br>
The award recognized Mr. Stronach’s contribution to applied oceanography in Canada through his development of numerical models of coastal waters. The models have been applied to a wide variety of fields, to everything from search and rescue software for the Canadian Coast Guard to sewage outflow modelling for coastal communities and tsunami and storm surge simulations.<br>
