Sandwell Engineering of Vancouver has been awarded the engineering contract for the Port Mann Water Supply Tunnel Fraser River Crossing project. The project is to replace an existing pipeline constructed in 1974. It is approximately 1 kilometres in length and is a primary water supply link to municipalities south of the Fraser River.
The design and construction process will be subject to stringent seismic requirement and issues around sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The Sandwell team includes Jacobs Associates, Golder Associates, Northwest Hydraulic Consultants, West Coast Corrosion Prevention, McElhanney Consulting Services, BKL Consultants, PWL Partnership and Landscape Architects.
Initial design work is commencing immediately and construction is expected to start in 2007.
