The Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation has produced a poster to commemorate the 14 female students killed at the Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal on December 6, 1989. The foundation is encouraging everyone to place the poster on bulletin boards or on web sites. To obtain the poster, visit www.cemf.ca/1989.htm
The 14 women, 13 of whom were engineering students, were shot when a lone gunman entered a classroom and shot the women indiscriminately. He then committed suicide.
Canada’s Parliament now observes December 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
