Professional Engineers Ontario and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers presented their annual awards on November 20 in Toronto.
The winner of the Gold Medal was Pierre Lassonde, president and director of the Newmont Mining Corporation.
Engineering Medals went to Kathy Milsom, president and CEO of Canada Lands Company (for management), Mark J. Chamberlain, former president and CEO of Wescam (for entrepreneurship), Douglas W. Scott, manager of engineering at the city of Thunder Bay (for engineering excellence), Mohamed A. Khattab, resident consultant at National Steel Car (for engineering excellence), Praveen K. Jain, professor in electrical and computer engineering at Queen’s University (for research and development), and Susan L. Tighe, P.Eng., assistant professor of civil engineering at the University of Waterloo (for young engineer).
Robert D. Loree, P.Eng., former director of engineering at McMaster University, and Murray C. Temple, chair of the Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital board of directors, won the Citizenship Award.
PEO and OSPE are inviting nominations for next year’s awards by March 31, 2005.
