The National Fire Protection Association in the U.S. is going to translate 26 codes and standards into Chinese over the next few months.
An agreement was signed last month between the NFPA and the Chinese Ministry of Public Security.
The goal is to have the NFPA codes and standards used to guide Chinese authorities as they prepare sites for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Among the 26 codes to be translated are: NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code (2003); NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems (2002); NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm Code (2002); and NFPA 70, the National Eelectrical Code (2002).
