The U.S. Green Building Council has released the LEED regional credits as part of LEED 2009, the latest version of its green building rating system.
The credits allow for different geographic conditions to be taken into account in the assessment system. Projects will be able to earn bonus points for implementing green building strategies that address the important environmental issues facing their region.
The 2009 LEED Version 3 launched April 27, 2009. Other changes in the version account for advances in building science and technology for energy efficiency. It also has a easier online tool for registering and certifying projects.
