An Ontario man has been sent to jail for 30 days for falsely claiming to be a structural engineer and representing himself as such on a construction project in the city of Toronto. He was also ordered to pay costs of nearly $20,000 to the court.
Mohammad Hafeez of Toronto had been convicted previously on four separate occasions of misrepresenting himself as an engineer.
The suit was brought against Hafeez by Professional Engineers Ontario and heard in the Ontario Superior Court.
