Consulting engineers Hatch Ltd. and their client QIT-Fer et Titan have won the project of the year award from the Project Management Institute of Montreal. The announcement of the awards, known as the Gala Elixir Awards, was made on January 31.
Hatch won the award for its expansion of the QIT-Fer et Titane complex in Sorel-Tracy. The expansion increased production capacity at the plant by 15%.
The project was completed three months ahead of schedule, and for $15 million less than the $145-million budget. There no major personal accidents.
Montreal has one of the international Project Management Institute’s largest chapters, with nearly 3,000 members. The institute has 250,000 members in 160 different countries. It is requesting applications for the 2009 Gala Elixir Awards. Tel. 514-677-6682.
