At its annual meeting in Ottawa last week, Consulting Engineers of Ontario elected David Amm, P.Eng., vice president of Hatch Mott MacDonald as the chair of its board of directors for 2009-2010.

Mr. Amm is currently managing the Hatch Mott MacDonald/MMM/Delcan Joint Venture doing the $2.6-billion Toronto Transit Commission Spadina Subway Extension. He graduated in engineering from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and started his career working with South African Railways and then with CN Rail upon coming to Canada.

Mr. Amm succeeds Anita Smith of Genivar as past Chair. She remains on the board as past-chair. Also on the CEO board are Shawn Gibbons of Dessau (vice-chair), Vic Anderson of Delcan (treasurer) and Jim McEwen of AECOM (secretary).

Newly elected directors are Laurie Boyce of CH2M Hill, Paul Hudspith of URS, Angelo Innocente of MTE, and Michael Snow of Golder Associates.

Returning directors are Gerry Egberts of Egberts Engineering, Doug Jagger of Jagger Hims, Peter Needra of XL Design Professional, and Michael Stocks of AMEC.
