The Toronto Congress Centre has announced plans for a major expansion. The conference and trade show facility is located in an industrial-type building on Dixon Road, near Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. With the addition, it will become a facility of over one million square feet.
The expansion will be located just north of the existing centre and will add 500,000 sq.ft. of additional exhibition space, including 40 meeting rooms and a 25,000 sq.ft. ballroom.
Plans are for an 800-foot long glazed front lobby, with plenty of daylight and a living green environment. Sustainable attributes such as indoor air quality, energy efficiency, green energy and water conservation are being incorporated throughout.
Giffels Associates and Norr are consultants on the redevelopment, which is slated for completion next year.
