The Society of Fire Protection Engineers is launching an initiative to encourage the addition of sprinkler protection in homes built by Habitat for Humanity. The SFPE aims to enlist its chapters to support the program, providing the resources for designing and installing the sprinklers.
Since 1976 Habitat for Humanity has built more than 100,000 houses in communities around the world. Using volunteer labour, donated materials, etc. it builds a house for the need every 26 minutes.
