An electrical engineering student at the University of Alberta graduated with a 3.9912 grade point average, reports the university on its website.
At the convocation ceremony on June 10, Shafi Khan won the Governor General’s Silver Medal for his “nearly flawless” performance. During his five years of studies he received 38 “A+” grades, six “A’s” and one “B+”. He told a reporter — smiling — “It haunts me because it’s not a perfect four unless you round it up.”
Khan is thinking of working either in power engineering or biomedical engineering. Or he says, he “may study medicine.”
He is one of 800 students graduating at the University of Alberta this spring.
