The former governor general whose name is synonymous with the top prize in the Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards has re-entered politics and is running as a candidate in the upcoming federal election.
Ed Schreyer surprised many people by his decision to run as the New Democratic Party candidate in the riding of Selkirk-Interlake in Saskatchewan. The seat was easily won by the Conservative party in the last election.
The Schreyer Award is the top technical award given in the annual Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards. While the awards themselves have been given since 1968, the first Schreyer Award was made in 1981, named after Mr. Schreyer as he was the Governor General of Canada at the time.
