Besides a building study of Casino Nova Scotia, the issue has a story about engineering buildings in the Middle East. It details some of the mechanical and electrical challenges of cooling buildings in a sweltering climate of 43 degrees C.

As a follow up to last month’s feature on the award-winning Lions Gate Bridge reconstruction in Vancouver, December’s issue shows two innovative projects close by to the landmark bridge: the innovative seismic engineering of the North Viaduct Approach by Klohn Crippen, and the stormwater treatment pond that “floats” on an existing lagoon in Stanley Park, by Kerr Wood Leidal.

Engineers & the Law looks at the risks of trenchless technology, and Human Edge profiles an engineer from UMA in B.C. who cycled across Canada.
