The Ontario region of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction has announced the winners of its 16th Annual Steel Design Awards.

The winner of the most outstanding steel structure in the engineering category was the Leslie L. Dan Pharmacy Building at the University of Toronto. The building is located west of University Avenue on College Street. The structural engineering firm is Halcrow Yolles. Architects are Foster & Partners/Cannon Design, with PCL Constructors as general contractor and Walters Inc. as steel fabricator, detailer and erector.

Winner in the architectural category was the Legends Center owned by the City of Oshawa. Structural engineers are Read Jones Christoffersen. Architects are Barry Bryan and Hughes Condon Marler. General contractor was Maystar, steel fabricators were Benson Steel and MBS Steel.

An honourable mention in the architectural category went to Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Ted Handy Associates as architects and Meades Engineering as structural engineer.
