Consulting Engineers of Ontario unveiled a major new scholarship program at its annual meeting on May 23.
Called the New Water Quality Research Scholarship, the program will fund up to six graduate student research positions from Ontario Universities over the next three years. The research will help engineers and scientists to meet the growing need for protection and treatment of safe drinking water.
Funds for the scholarship became available when the business association of consulting engineering firms was asked by the Ontario government to help monitor engineering inspections at water treatment plants following the Walkerton disaster. John Sutherns, P.Eng., past Chair of CEO, made the announcement at the annual meeting held at the Nottawasaga Inn in Alliston, Ontario.
