Kicking off National Engineering Week, the Annual Consulting Engineers of British Columbia Awards of Engineering Excellence were given out on March 1. Held at at the Westin Bayshore hotel in Vancouver, the glittering event was themed on the Mardi Gras.
The prestigious Lieutenant Governor’s Award of Excellence went to Klohn Crippen Consultants and SNC-Lavalin for their work on the Arrow Lakes Generating Station.
Awards of Excellence were presented to Earth Tech Inc. for the Yorkson Creek Water Resources Plan; Sandwell Engineering for the Coal Harbour Development; Klohn Crippen Consultants and SNC-Lavalin for Arrow Lakes Generating Station; and Fast + Epp for Brentwood Town Centre Station.
Awards of Merit went to: Sandwell Engineering for the Review of Metro Vancouver 230kV Transmission Network Supply development; Buckland & Taylor for the Rama 8 Bridge in Thailand, ND Lea Consultants, SNC-Lavalin and Stantec Consulting for the Millennium Line SkyTrain extension; and Koers & Associates for the Port Alberni pulp Mill Water Supply Main Replacement; Klohn Crippen for Seismic upgrade of Myra Falls tailings Disposal Facility; Keen Engineering for the Vancouver Island Technology Park, and Read Jones Christoffersen for the IKEA Store in Coquitlam.
The prestigious Meritorious Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Frank Leighton, for his significant contributions to both the engineering profession and community service during his more than 50 years as a professional engineer.
The Consulting Engineers of British Columbia is a business association representing consulting engineering firms, which employ 5,000 people in the province.
