The top award from Consulting Engineers of Ontario given out at a gala celebration on Thursday, June 5 went to McCormick Rankin Corporation. <br>
The company’s project in Ottawa, the “Rapid Replacement of the Highway 417/Island Park Drive Overpass,” received the Willis Chipman Award at a gala evening celebration in downtown Toronto. The major freeway bridge was replaced within 17 hours during an overnight closure, using rapid-lift, mobile transporter technology. <br>
Awards of excellence were given to:<br>
Delcan, for the Modernization of the Bridgetown Port in Barbados (category, firm with 101+ employees);<br>
Nadine International, for the Hazard Protection, Fire Detection and Suppression System at Ontario Power Generation’s Nanticoke Generating Station (category, 26 to 100 employees);<br>
Eramosa Engineering, for the Lambton Shores Beach Monitoring System (category, 1-25 employees).<br>
Awards of merit were given to:<br>
H.H. Angus & Associates for the Terrence Donnelly Centre for Cellular & Biomolecular Research in Toronto (buildings category);<br>
Hatch Mott MacDonald for the Airside and Civil Engineering for Toronto Pearson Airport Terminal 1 (transportation category);<br>
Sandwell Consulting Engineers for Poraver’s Innisfil Manufacturing Facility (industry, energy & resources category);<br>
Genivar for the 16th Avenue/9th Line Trunk Sewer Phase II Design Build project (environment category);<br>
Golder Associates Innovative Applications (GAIA) for the City of Barrie Cell 3A Re-engineering (project management, studies, research category). <br>
Twenty-seven projects were entered in this year’s awards, which are now in their sixth year.<br>
