At its annual conference in Louisville, Kentucky, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) launched a prototype of its new building energy labelling program.
The Building Energy quotient program, or “Building EQ,” will include both asset and operational ratings for all non-residential building types. The program is designed to close the gap between the projected energy use of a building design, and its actual performance once occupied.
ASHRAE is working with major real estate developers to implement the label and plans a widespread launch of the full program in 2010.
