Alberta’s budget released April 19 announced record spending. Over the next three years the province has promised to spend $18 billion on building projects such as roads, schools and hospitals. Municipalities are allocated $4.3 billion over three years to upgrade public transportation and build affordable housing. Schools are to get $1.3 billion, and hospitals will have $3 billion.
The province’s booming economy has meant a booming construction market, rising demand, and a big increase in construction costs.
