They received the award at a dinner and ceremony on 14 November in Lawrence Hall in London. The award are “an industry benchmark” and it is an outstanding achievement to even be shortlisted.
The judges were impressed by the refurbishment to the historic building, which dates from 1860 and was built as part of Canada’s Parliament Buildings.
The refurbishment involved excavating a new basement and replacing 76 columns with 12. Michael Petrescu-Comnene, P.Eng. was in charge of the project.
An article describing the project will appear in the March-April 2008 issue of Canadian Consulting Engineer.
