Engineering services shows slight improvement

Statistics Canada reported on December 23 that the construction industry gross domestic product had risen 5.5% over the 12 months ending October 2010.

Professional, scientific and technical services, which includes engineering and architecture, had risen 1.5% over the same period. The figure for “All Industries” was an increase of 3.3%.
Statistics Canada also reported that on a monthly bases, during October 2010, while residential housing construction had declined 1.7% from the month before, non-residential building construction had increased. Engineering work was unchanged from the previous month.
