Consulting firms forge links in Winnipeg

Stantec, one of Canada’s largest consulting engineering firms, has acquired yet another firm: GBR Architects of Winnipeg. GBR is an architectural, planning and facility management consulting firm with 35 employees. It was founded in 1932. Stantec is based in Edmonton.<br>
Meanwhile, CH2M Hill and KGS Group of Winnipeg have announced they will team together for infrastructure projects in Manitoba, Northwest Ontario and Saskatchewan. “The collaboration will enhance and expand opportunities for both firms,” said a press release. <br>
KGS Group is part of a consortium — together with UMA and Acres — acting as lead consultant for the Winnipeg Floodway Expansion. (The massive four-year project is currently going through environmental approvals with plans to start construction next year.) <br>
KGS has 15 employees. CH2M Hill is a global firm with 14,000 employees worldwide, and 400 in Canada.<br>
