Uponor realigns Canadian operation, invests $17.4M in U.S. PEX pipe manufacturing

Last year Uponor North America announced it was consolidating the Canadian head office with its eastern distribution centre, which moved to Mississauga, Ont. last June.

The move happened last month, centralizing operations, and the company is now expanding its estimation and commercial piping design services, also located in Mississauga. The move resulted in closing its Regina office.

“The new Uponor Ltd. headquarters reflects the business Uponor has become and addresses the current and future needs of customers, partners and staff by adding 8,000 square feet of office space and increasing warehouse capacity by 30 percent,” says Charlie Harte, general manager, Uponor Ltd.

The Mississauga location includes a training facility for up to 50 attendees and a hands-on application lab. To complement the new venue and its traditional plumbing and radiant heating/cooling training classes, the new Canadian facility will also begin offering engineering continuing education units (CEUs) beginning June 2.

Uponor is also expanding its manufacturing facility in Apple Valley, Minn. beginning late spring, with completion expected by January 2018. The $17.4 million investment will add an additional 58,000 sq. ft. to increase the company’s capacity.

The building expansion is required to meet forecasted growth for Uponor’s crosslinked polyethylene (PEX) tubing in plumbing, fire sprinkler, radiant heating and cooling and hydronic piping systems used in residential and commercial buildings.
