University of Toronto tops rankings for civil engineering in Canada

The University of Toronto was Canada's top university in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings in 2013. The University of British Columbia and McGill University were second and third in Canada respectively.

The University of Toronto was Canada’s top university in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings in 2013. The University of British Columbia and McGill University were second and third in Canada respectively.

Out of the full field of 200 top universities worldwide, U of T was 20th, UBC was 31st, and McGill was 35th.

Taking individual departments, U of T was ranked first in Canada for civil and structural engineering (44th in the world). It was also first in Canada for electrical engineering, second in environmental sciences, and tied for third in mechanical engineering.

U of T was also one of only eight universities (which included Oxford, Cambridge and Stanford) that scored in the top 30 in all six subject areas in the survey: humanities, medicine, physical sciences, social sciences, life sciences and engineering.
