Taking individual departments, U of T was ranked first in Canada for civil and structural engineering (44th in the world). It was also first in Canada for electrical engineering, second in environmental sciences, and tied for third in mechanical engineering.

U of T was also one of only eight universities (which included Oxford, Cambridge and Stanford) that scored in the top 30 in all six subject areas in the survey: humanities, medicine, physical sciences, social sciences, life sciences and engineering.
