Smith + Andersen’s recent personnel appointments

Smith + Andersen has announced the appointment of one new associate principal, six new senior associates, and one new associate.

Proven in their fields and respected by their peers, each of the individuals has demonstrated their commitment to the firm.

Joining the team of current and future leaders of Smith + Andersen:

Dugan Doherty, P.Eng.

Dugan Doherty, P.Eng., is now an associate principal. A graduate of the Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical and electronic engineering, Doherty joined Smith + Andersen in 2013, working out of the Vancouver office. He has been a leader for the local Smith + Andersen electrical team, managing complex projects across a wide-range of market sectors in BC, Alberta, and the Yukon.

New senior associates with the firm include:

Glen Beaudoin, P.Eng.

Glen Beaudoin, P.Eng., provides more than 12 years of electrical design experience to Smith + Andersen’s Calgary office. In addition to his electrical design expertise applied to a variety of building types, Beaudoin’s talent for lighting design has led him to achieve several awards from the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES). From high-rise residential buildings to school projects, Beaudoin’s portfolio of experience is a resource for clients across western Canada.

Lewis Clarke, P.Eng.

Lewis Clarke, P.Eng., is an experienced professional mechanical engineer in Calgary with a focus on sustainability and a passion for tenant spaces. Since joining Smith + Andersen in 2014, Lewis has applied his expertise to enhance the design of trading floors, data centers, retail spaces, restaurants, heritage structures, institutional environments, and workplaces.

Eric Stevens, P.Eng.

Eric Stevens, P.Eng., joined the Calgary office in 2016 with a wealth of experience, working on projects within hospitality, commercial, municipal and education sectors. His experience extends beyond Canada, successfully delivering projects in Japan, UAE, and the U.S. A member of both APEGA and PEO, Stevens is currently leading the mechanical design for projects across Alberta.

Simon Graham, P.Eng.

Simon Graham, P.Eng., is an experienced mechanical engineer and LEED accredited professional. Since joining the Toronto office in 2014, Graham has been providing expertise on everything from complex transportation projects, to high rise office developments and recreation facilities. An active member of the Canada Green Building Council and PEO, his over 13 years of experience is a guidepost for professionals inside and outside of the firm.

Mike Mitani, P.Eng.

Since joining in Ottawa as a designer more than a decade ago, Mike Mitani, P.Eng., has established himself as a dependable, detail-oriented leader. Mitani’s natural problem-solving abilities have helped guide project teams toward success on projects ranging from large-scale government developments to community recreation centres and healthcare facilities.

Chris Durocher. P.L. (Eng.)

Chris Durocher, P.L.(Eng.), a mechanical engineer, first joined Smith + Andersen in 2006 and has been managing successful projects ever since. Leading the local tenant team in Calgary, Durocher’s expertise has improved workplaces and retail environments across the city. He has established lasting relationships with clients, demonstrating his commitment to high-quality work.

Ryan Smith, P.L. (Eng.)

And recently appointed associate in Calgary is Ryan Smith, P.L. (Eng.), who joined Smith + Andersen after graduating from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2010. Smith has been involved in the mechanical design of a variety of building types, specializing in office development and tenant improvement projects. He has grown as a leader in the firm and in the local industry, and is an active member of APEGA and ASHRAE.
