Quebec municipality payments being audited

According to the Globe and Mail, the Canada Revenue Agency is asking for court orders to investigate payments made by 146 municipalities in Quebec to contractors and consultants.

According to the Globe and Mail, the Canada Revenue Agency is asking for court orders to investigate payments made by 146 municipalities in Quebec to contractors and consultants.

The report, dated July 14, said that an affidavit filed in Federal Court, would affect engineering firms among others.

The report said that each municipality has been asked to provide the federal goverment with details of amounts other than wages that have been paid between 2007 and 2010.  Expert lawyers said that the auditing request was very unusual in its scope and nature.
