SNC-Lavalin Group’s corporate governance was ranked No. 1 out of 201 publicly traded firms assessed by the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business. The ROB’s ranking, called “Board Games 2009,” was reported November 25.

The ROB examined the boards of directors of the 201 companies and income trusts listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange at August 31. The ranking was based on four key areas: board composition, compensation, shareholder rights and disclosure.  Stantec was ranked 45.

Stantec has won a $30-million contract to lead a team of seven firms providing 3D laser scanning and surveying services for U.S. federal building projects.

The Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion earned a special award at the 2009 Canadian Institute of Steel Construction B.C. Awards on November 19. The project won the Hugh Krentz award in recognition of its extraordinary design solution. The award went to all the contributing firms, including Glotman Simpson, the structural engineers, PavCo, LMN/Musson Cattell Mackey/DA architects, Glotman Simpson, Westcoast, Canron and Dowco Consultants.
