MTE Consultants growing its Southwestern Ontario footprint

The firm has been growing its capacity and service offering in the London area with the recent acquisitions of two London-based consulting firms, BioLogic and Hastings and Aziz.
With established offices in Burlington, Kitchener, Stratford and London, Ontario, MTE Consultants has recently been growing its capacity and service offering in the London area with the recent acquisitions of two London-based consulting firms, BioLogic and Hastings and Aziz.
Founded in 1985, MTE now employs a team of over 350 professionals across Southwestern Ontario involved in civil, structural, environmental and geotechnical engineering, and surveying. The firm opened its first London office with two employees in July 2016 following the acquisition of EngCET Engineering. Today, following its more recent acquisitions which both occurred in March, it has a team of over 50 in the London area.
“When we set out to open our fourth office in London in 2016, we were excited about the opportunities ahead of us,” said MTE’s president, Ted Rowe in a company release. “We had done our research and knew that London was the right fit for MTE and our staff. What we never imagined was how quickly we would grow.”
The addition of BioLogic, an environmental consulting firm that provides aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem services, includes Dave Hayman, the firm’s president and senior biologist, along with five full-time staff members.
And Hastings and Aziz is a structural engineering firm led by principals Karl Buczkowski, P.Eng., Jeffrey Reid, P.Eng. and James Gillett, P.Eng. The addition of the 13-person team allows MTE to provide structural engineering services from its London office.
In addition to the recent acquisitions MTE also welcomed several key people to the firm:
- Michael Fabro, P.Eng., the new manager of environmental services with over 12 years of environmental engineering expertise.
- Brett Thorner, P.Eng. joins the firm as a geotechnical engineer with over 12 years of experience.
- David O’Gorman, PMP is the new manager of the municipal division, bringing over 12 years of experience in the consulting engineering industry with a focus on municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater projects.
- and John McNeil, P.Geo. recently joined the MTE London office, bringing over 15 years of experience in the field of hydrogeology.
